We are very proud to announce that since the end of December our company introduced the e-techlog application.
The electronic techlog enables us to operate without recording flight data on paper, through an online application exclusively designed and tested by Superior Air. Our CAA then came and after a long trial period, tests and audits according to the EASA regulations, approved the use of this application.
But what does this mean exactly and what are the benefits? First of all, completing a techlog on paper after each flight takes a lot of time. Not only that but it is also a process that leads pilots to making mistakes since you need to add/subtract complicated numbers (hours/cycles) and most of the time under time pressure and when being either tired or stressed. By using this application we reduced the average techlog completion time from 4-5 minutes to just under 2 and mistakes by at least 80% due to the design features of the application. Also all flight data are instantly available to all of our departments since this is an online application. This means that our maintenance team for example has all the data available on a real-time basis, immediately after each flight and it helps us plan our maintenance tasks on-time and makes cooperation between departments easier. Our sales people also have a very good idea of how much an aircraft can fly before its next maintenance has to be completed. This is very important since we operate out of 4 different bases and the aircraft are away from maintenance people most of the time. Another important thing is saving money. We will not be printing 36.000 pages for 2017 alone, all records are kept electronically and of course last but not least this is an eco-friendly solution.
Superior Air is the first company in Greece and among a handful of companies in the world to get such an approval. After designing and testing the application we understand why this is not such an easy task for anyone to do, so we are very proud of our team and the final outcome.
